As a family photographer, I could not rave more about golden hour at Blue Hole in Georgetown Texas. The light reflecting off the water and the gorgeous limestone cliffs create the perfect setting for some fun family photos. And this recent session with a sweet family of six—Mom, Dad, two little boys, and two little girls—was no exception!

Coordinating Outfits For Family Photos at Blue Hole Park

In addition to the beautiful scenery, the family’s outfit choices were absolutely perfect! With a beautifully coordinated mix of navy blues, deep greens, beige, and warm browns, the fall vibes were all around us. That’s also why in my complimentary style guide, I recommend to my clients to choose simple color palettes. So think of creams, blush tones, or even all white, to ensure a timeless, light and airy look. This mom sure nailed this down!

How to Get your Kids to Smile in Family Photos

One of my favorite things about this session was how playful it was. Although I believe posed family portraits have their place, I also think there’s so much more they can’t capture. Now just imagine your kids playing tickle fights, jumping, and just having fun. Finally you get the best of the best smiles! So, if you are ever worried about your kids not smiling in your photos, here’s a simple trick: let them be them! This is how we’ll create real, candid moments that tell the true story of your family.
