As a mom who also had to book my first newborn session with my own baby, I’ve been there! In this post, I give you my answer to one of the most common questions I receive from parents when preparing for their session.

Should my Baby be Asleep for Newborn Photos?

So what if your baby does not go to sleep?

My recent in-home newborn session with sweet – and wide-awake – Baby Sandro answers this question beautifully. And rest assured – it is actually perfectly OK if your baby decides to stay awake for their entire session! In fact, as a Leander Photographer, what I love about lifestyle vs. posed newborn sessions is that they are completely baby-led. And that means you do not need to worry about your baby being deep asleep so they can be tightly wrapped up like a human burrito in a bucket :).

A lifestyle newborn session focuses primarily on those sweet, candid moments of connection. No forced or overly staged posing – just natural interactions between you and your baby.

Awake Lifestyle Newborn Photos in Leander, TX

Baby Sandro sure did not want to miss a thing during his photo session! This little cutie kept his eyes wide open for the majority of our time together. And the result? A gorgeous gallery of images documenting a real story – of him looking into his mother’s eyes, yawning in his daddy’s face, and making the sweetest facial expressions.
