Family photos: Tips for a light and airy look

Moms Belong in Front of the Camera

I see you mama! Always right there behind the camera—snapping pictures of your little ones’ milestones, capturing their giggles, and preserving all the moments, big or small, of them growing up. But here’s the truth: YOU too deserve to be in the photos!

A Sweet Mommy and Me Session in Austin, TX

As an Austin Family Photographer, I was reminded of this during a recent mommy and me photoshoot at Katherine Fleischer Park with a mother and her sweet baby boy. The session was full of tender, candid moments. Imagine her little one’s laughter as she held him up in the air, his excitement as he runs up and down the bridge, or the sweet tickle fights . These images tell a story, not just of his baby years, but of her love, her presence, and her irreplaceable role in his life.

Too often, moms do not get in front of the camera, whether because we’re self-conscious or simply because we think pictures of the kids are more important. But the truth is, years from now, your children will go looking for pictures of you. They will not worry about your hair and makeup looking perfect, or how fancy your dress was. They’ll just be looking for proof that you were there, that you held them, kissed them, and loved them endlessly. And they will want more than a mere memory. They will want something tangible, that they can hold, cherish, and pass down.

So, dear mama, here is your friendly reminder from another mama to you: Be seen. Be remembered. Be part of the story you’ve been capturing all along. Step into the frame – exactly where you belong. As your Austin Family Photographer, I’d be so honored to help you do just that. If you are ready to preserve the memories of you and your children, contact me HERE
